| Welcome back to Valpo everybody! I hope that you all had safe and
uneventful travels back here and that you weren't too sad to leave
home. Where do I start? I had a fantastic Christmas
break. Three weeks seemed like the perfect length of time to
avoid the typical boredom similar to what occurs at the end of
May. I spent four days in awesome sunny and warm San Diego, CA
right after I left Valpo. It was about 70 everday with all the
sunshine that everywhere else didn't get in the past three weeks.
It had rained quite heavily for several days and there was some areas
of significant erosion. Several of the paths that we hiked on
either had sandbag reconstruction or were simply blocked off because of
the extent of the erosion. We walked along the beach and watched
the sun set from Coronado, the Silver Strand. We also visited the
Wild Animal Park which is about an hour's drive away from the city and
much better than the regular zoo. The day after I came back I met
Molly in Chicago where we did some shopping at Marshall Field's and
went to the German market in Daly Plaza. For Christmas I came
back to Indiana, up by the dunes at my Aunt's house. On the 29th
I had the unfortunate experience of having my wisdom teeth ripped
out....although it went fairly smooth and I didn't have much swelling
or pain. I do have a tiny bruise left on the left side of my face
where they put the clamp.
Molly spent three days at my house for New Year's and we did plenty of
fun stuff with my family while I recovered. Unfortunaely, this
was my first New Year's as a 21 year old...and I couldn't have
champagne...oh well. The remaining few days at home I spent
bumming around the area malls and watching Movies. Get Shorty is
an awesome movie. And Memoirs of a Geisha was outstanding and I
highly recommend it. Munich was good as well. Yesterday the
RAs came back early for a little refresher training and now I am back
here! I can't wait to get around and say hi to all of you, so
please give me a call or swing by 344 Wehrenberg. Happy New Year!

| Hey everybody! I hope that your last week of classes went
smoothly and well...and of course that you avoided killing yourselves
with all the work we had to do. I finally finished Patton!
I turned it on Tuesday night and it was 35 pages! That was at
least 17 pages longer than my previous long. It even took 9
minutes to print for goodness sake. I feel that it turned out
really well and overall I'm really pleased. The rest of the week
was a piece of cake after that. I wrote an art paper on a picture
taken by Ansel Adams in 3.5 hours (not bad for 7 pages). Other
than that I actually had free time for the first time in two weeks.
There hasn't really been much else to post about, so that's why it
hasn't been very frequent. Good luck to you all on your finals
and travel safely on the way home.

| Oh my dear Lord. What a hectic week this has been. I can
finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is
everything I had to work on this week: Test Monday, right after break,
Econ Project, Senior Seminar Paper, Art Paper, and two tests
today. Wow. Now that Friday is here I only have the Econ
Project, Art Paper due Friday, and Senior Seminar Paper to finish .
My parents are coming for the Christmas concert tomorrow in the Chapel,
my sister is playing in the CCB. I am really looking forward to
tonight. I get to relax somewhat and most of the stress has been
lifted.
I've been listening to Nightwish and they're pretty good. I had
listened to them briefly last year but never really the whole
album. Take a listen sometime. The semester is slowly
winding down and everyone is ready to go home. Talk to you all
soon! Really.

| Ok! So it's been nearly a month since I last posted. If you couldn't tell by that, I have been incredibly busy in those past four weeks. I thought senior year was supposed to be fun. So much for that...I guess I'll see how much fun student teaching is next semester. Speaking of that, I recently submitted checkpoint two, which is my application for admission to student teaching. I had it mostly finished from last spring so yeah for working ahead. Other news, I spent 11 hours on my Historical Geo paper last Sunday. It ended up being 16 pages long and I think it turned out very well. I had 4 pages to begin with but they were kind of crappy so I started over. Other than that, I hope you all are having a fantastic Thanksgiving break. I'm not doing much relaxing. I'm trying to get as close to finishing Patton as humanly possible so that I can deal with the absurd Econ project Shingleton gave us. Molly is gone so I don't get to talk to her much. Jared, I'm excited for your return to Valpo in about three weeks! We've missed you all semester and it hasn't quite been the same without you.
Most of my free time lately has been spent between three things: Molly Battlefield 2, and Homer Court hanging out with the gang. So pretty much the same old same old. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving and I can't wait to see you all at the end of the week!
PS - I promise more frequent updates too | | |
| Hello once again! I hope that everyone had a fabulous fall break,
because I sure didn't. It was nice to get away from campus for a
few days and try to relax, but I was sick the entire weekend that I was
trying to enjoy with my brother in Cleveland. I did have a good
time with him, but the fact that I was sick kind of ruined everything
else. So did the goddamn political science test I had
today. Another 15 page test!! Can you believe that?
Two in a row! It took me 95 minutes to complete it.
Absolutely ridiculous. I still feel like crap from this
cold...you'd think if they can sew somebody's finger back on after it
gets chopped off they can cure a goddamn cold. I watched Sin City
on Sunday with my brother. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend
it to you all, just to see it. It's quite possibly the most
violent movie I have ever seen in my life, and it even tops Kill
Bill.
I picked up the new Disturbed album Ten Thousand
Fists last week and I've been listening to it ever since. It's
really good and I also recommend that. They redid the Genesis
song Land of Confusion and did a great job. I think they enjoy
cover songs (Land of Confusion, Shout 2000, Fade to Black). There
hasn't really been that much else going on in the past week. I
spent a huge amount of time on Sunday and Monday preparing for my
test...which I think went well (at least better than the first) but
took a frickin' long time. Now I have nothing to worry about for
a few more days until I get my Patton paper back. Keep your
fingers crossed! Talk to you all later.
